POLICE in Ashington are appealing for information following the theft and arson of a car in broad daylight last month.
The silver Mitsubishi Colt was stolen from a disabled bay outside the Newcastle Building Society in Station Road about 3.55pm on Thursday, September 18.

It was then driven east in to Woodhorn Road and found burnt out on Paddock Wood field, North Seaton, a week later on September 25.

Police are trying to trace witnesses both to the original theft and the arson.

It is thought Station Road would have been quite busy at the time of the theft.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Pc Jollley or Pc French at Ashington police station on 03456 043043 ext 61626.
