REPORTS claim Sunderland's bid to sign Everton forward Andy Johnson has been rejected due to a difference in valuation.
Black Cats boss Roy Keane, looking to bolster his strikeforce following injury to star striker Kenwyne Jones, has been told by the Merseysiders to increase their offer, according to the News of the World.

It is claimed Goodison Park chairman Bill Kenwright has told Sunderland they want £12m for the England squad player.

Reports claim Keane and his former Manchester United team-mate, Steve Bruce at Wigan, have both bid £10m.

Everton bought Johnson from Crystal Palace two years ago for £8m

But the 27-year-old, after a superb first campaign in the blue shirt, was eclipsed as Everton's main man last season by the arrival of £12m Ayegbeni Yakubu and a host of clubs are now tracking him.

West Ham, Manchester City, and Middlesbrough have also made inquiries.

Everton boss David Moyes would like to keep Johnson but fears he may be in a losing battle.
